BPC-157: Research Protocol in Tissue Recovery
EXOMA Scientific Team · Publicado el · Actualizado el
Review of the pharmacological profile of BPC-157 (Body Protective Compound pentadecapeptide) and the protocols described in preclinical literature for tissue regeneration research.
Chemical identity
BPC-157 (Body Protective Compound-157) is a synthetic 15-amino-acid pentadecapeptide: Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val
It was originally isolated from human gastric juice by the Sikiric group in the 1990s (University of Zagreb).
Mechanism in preclinical literature
In vitro and animal model studies suggest multiple mechanisms of action:
- Modulation of the VEGFR2-Akt-eNOS pathway → angiogénesis acelerada
- Upregulation of growth hormone receptors en fibroblastos tendinosos
- Modulation of the serotonin-dopamine axis en SNC
- Inhibition of TNF-α and pro-inflammatory interleukins
Protocols described in the literature
| Modelo experimental | Dose | Route | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|
Theoretical dose conversion (HED)
The extrapolation of animal to human dose (Human Equivalent Dose) according to FDA guidance is approximately:
- 10 µg/kg in rat ≈ 1.6 µg/kg in human (factor 6.2)
- For a 70 kg subject: ~112 µg as a theoretical reference
This conversion is strictly theoretical and does not imply a recommendation for use.
Standard reconstitution
Vial of 5 mg reconstituted with 2 mL of bacteriostatic water:
- Concentration: 2.5 mg/mL = 250 µg per 0.1 mL = 25 µg per U-100 unit
Vial of 10 mg reconstituted with 2 mL:
- Concentration: 5 mg/mL = 500 µg per 0.1 mL = 50 µg per U-100 unit
Stability
| Condición | Lyophilized | Reconstituted |
|---|---|---|
| -20°C | 36 months | 60 días |
| 2-8°C | 24 months | 30 días |
| 25°C | 30 días | 7 días |
Analytical purity
For any research protocol with BPC-157 to be reproducible, the raw material must meet:
- HPLC purity ≥99%
- Identity confirmed by mass spectrometry
- COA per lot with quantification of impurities
- Endotoxins <1 EU/mg
Investigated synergy
In preclinical literature, BPC-157 has been studied in combination with:
- TB-500 (Thymosin β4): in muscle regeneration models
- GHK-Cu: in dermal wound-healing models
